Doh Zat

Doh Zat is a platform for publishing stories and conducting mental health-focused research through needs assessment for Myanmar people.

Doh Zat meaning 'Our Stories' in Burmese, is a digital multimedia platform where we share powerful narratives of mental health challenges originate from experiences of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, violence, and harassment based on gender, age, race, ethnicity, and sexuality, narrated from a first-person perspective.

Doh Zat is committed to ethically addressing any potential concerns while offering crucial psychosocial support to vulnerable groups from Myanmar. We also collect authentic stories from these individuals with their explicit consent for the purpose of data collection and story publishing. Mental health research in Myanmar, especially field research, is currently facing challenges due to the coup. Recognizing the physical and mental risks associated with CTSD (Continuous Traumatic Stress Disorder) among Myanmar people, we are conducting needs assessments to raise public awareness.

Through initial surveys and assessment workshops, Doh Zat has discovered that, those facing such challenges often face silencing and demonization for speaking out. Many individuals struggle with mental wounds from traumatic experiences, hindering them from sharing their stories due to fear of victim-blaming, further violence, or loss of support systems.

Doh Zat believes that these stories and experiences need to be heard. By sharing the reality, we hope to inspire readers to address mental health challenges, not only for themselves but also with their family, friends, colleagues, and others.
